Master of Arts Program

The Department of Speech and Hearing Science offers a Master of Arts degree with specialization in Speech-Language Pathology. To satisfy the requirements of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association for clinical certification, the speech-language pathology student must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of biological sciences, physical sciences, mathematics, and the social/behavioral sciences, knowledge of basic human communication and swallowing processes (typically met in an undergraduate program) and must demonstrate knowledge and skills in communication and swallowing disorders. The program's Praxis Examination pass rate for the past three years has been 100%, and 100% of graduating students have become employed in the profession. Graduation completion rates over the same period of time are over 98%.

The Department also offers a nonclinical master's degree for students who do not wish to pursue careers as speech-language pathologists.
