Research Experience

Director, Arkansas Center for Stuttering Research and Treatment, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, 2004-present. Research Assistant, Stuttering Research Program, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, 2000-2003. Mentors: Professors Ehud Yairi and Nicoline Ambrose.

Testing of children and adults; parent interview; data collection and analysis, especially disfluency analyses in audio and video speech samples; preparation of own manuscripts for a series of investigations regarding early childhood stuttering.

Involved in the ongoing research projects of the Stuttering Research Program at the University of Illinois.

Research Grants

Co-Investigator with Richard Zraick: The Effect of Divided Attention on Speech Fluency, National Institutes of Health, National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, R0-3 (in submission).

Co-Investigator with Richard Zraick: An investigation of the speech characteristics of individuals with probable Alzheimer’s Disease, UAMS Memory Research Center (funded through grant P30 AG 19606 from the National Institute on Aging). Direct Costs: $7,500.

Principal Investigator: Arkansas Center for Stuttering Research and Treatment Proposal, UALR College of Professional Studies, $5,000, funding awarded August 2004.
