Undergraduate students are prepared for careers and graduate education in human communication, human resources, and health. They may combine interests in communication with preparation for careers in medical sciences, speech-language pathology, audiology, dentistry, physical or occupational therapy, physiology, linguistics, or law.

Graduate students prepare to become audiologists or speech-language pathologists who diagnose and remediate communication impairments in people of all ages. They may also become research scientists who add new knowledge about all forms of communication.

Graduates work in medical and research facilities, education, government agencies, communication-related businesses, and private practice. According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, speech-language pathologists and audiologists can expect a bright employment future.
